18th century tortoiseshell, pair cased pocket watch. Features a white enamel dial. It also has pierced gilt hands and Roman numerals on the dial. The case decorated with ferns. The movement has a verge escapement with chain fusee and is signed ‘James Paymore London No 20’. Diameter (see pictures) is 45.5mm. The movement also features a tompion regulator. Case button works well. Tortoiseshell is missing between 1 and 3 o’clock but in my opinion this does not detract from the overall watch. A very nice, rare, early verge pocket watch.
